Updating Your Driver To Jailbreak Your iPod Touch 4

February 7th, 2012 No comments

Apple released its most recent OS update, which is the iOS 5.0.1 back in December 2011. The update included fixes for bugs that back then, were affecting Apple devices’ battery life.

If you have already upgraded you device to iOS 5.0.1, make sure that you also updated your computer’s drivers so that you can jailbreak your device without any problem. Before deciding to jailbreak your iPod Touch device, do keep in mind that doing so will void its warranty. Another important note worth remembering would be to not only update your drivers before jailbreaking your device, but also to back up your iPod’s data before proceeding with the process.

Why the need to jailbreak your iPod

There are many reasons why it would be beneficial to jailbreak your iPod because aside from being able to personalize your device the way you want it to be, you can also download apps that are not available in the iTunes App Store. Since Apple does not permit third party developers, jailbreaking your device will give you a wider range of options for apps to download.  You can even download YouTube videos on the internet and save it on your iPod.

What are the downsides

One of the downsides of jailbreaking your Apple device would be voiding its warranty with the company. However, if there’s any need for you to send it over for repair while it is still officially under warranty, you can always restore it to its original form via iTunes.

If one of your worries would be a quick draining of the battery after jailbreaking your iPod, you will be more than happy to know that only a few apps will do this to your device and third party apps only consume five to ten percent of your battery’s life.

If you have any plans of jailbreaking your iPod touch, make sure that your iTunes is updated to the latest version. You would also need to download a software program that would jailbreak your iPod for you.
