KbdEdit Driver Update

Windows can easily install a basic input driver to make most standard computer keyboards immediately functional. Input drivers for keyboards however don’t usually have additional programs that can extend the inherent limitations of the Latin character set and QWERTY lay out. This is where applications like KbdEdit come in. This program is what is known as a keyboard layout editor and it enables the user to reassign Unicode characters and functions to any key. Whether you’re using a Logitech Deluxe keyboard or an older device that still requires a parallel/serial port, KbdEdit can completely remap and make your keyboard conform to your preferences.

This program features a preview screen, a Unicode palette, and allows for numerous Undo/Redo actions that make creating and testing keyboard layout configurations a fairly easy process. It has support for ligatures and dead keys to extend a standard keyboard’s usage for languages that don’t use the Latin character set. The program is compatible with most other applications and actually allows drag-and-drop actions across the applications. It can also import files from Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator. Free demos and paid editions with full functionality are available. This latest version of KbdEdit is 1.1.11 released May 22, 2011. It is compatible with Windows 2000, 2003, XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008.
